June Carey studied at both Glasgow and Edinburgh Schools  of Art. But it was not until the early 1980’s, and her first forray into etching, that she discovered a love of printmaking that has remained with her ever since. Discovering etching brought about a turning-point in her work and career. The process of making an etching set her imagination free. Suddenly she had found her subject, and her joyously, colourful, figurative work has been exhibited extensively throughout Britain and abroad.
