Irene MacKenzie

There are no shortcuts in the creation of Irene MacKenzie’s beautiful watercolours, they are the carefully wrought end product of hours and hours of her meticulous hard work. Watercolour is the most exacting of all the painting mediums with it’s transparent layers leaving no margin for error – in producing her work Irene requires dedication as well as her finely honed technical skills. By taking commonplace forms such as flower blooms and altering their scale beyond life size she asks us to look at the everyday in a new way and shows us the abstract forms in the nature that is all around us.
