Alex Milsom was born and raised in New Zealand where she studied Visual Arts in Auckland majoring in Printmaking. In 2006 she embarked on a period of foreign travel which took her eventually to Glasgow where she was based for several years before returning to her native New Zealand.

Milsom works extensively in mezzotint responding to it’s velvety blackness and intimate scale to produce her dreamlike images.

A world of childhood narrative inspired by stories told to her by her grandmother. These fairytales are acted out with human and animal characters that address issues based upon the human condition.
